Glen Rose, Texas Mom Battles Heart Failure While Raising Two Children With Ultra-Rare Diseases |
Date: September 30, 2025 |
Family’s story of survival, loss, and faith is one-in-a-trillion
Glen Rose, Texas – September 30, 2025 – A Glen Rose single mother, Jenna Hornbuckle, is fighting for her life while raising two children diagnosed with some of the rarest medical conditions in the world. Despite overwhelming odds, she is using her story to inspire hope, advocate for forgotten communities, and call for compassion.
Over the past three years, Jenna has endured:
- More than a dozen hospitalizations - Multiple ICU stays and ambulance transports - Ongoing battles with advanced heart failure, kidney disease, profound hearing loss, and Muckle-Wells Syndrome — an ultra-rare autoinflammatory disease
Her children, Nicholas (17) and Victoria (9), also face overlapping rare syndromes. Doctors estimate the Hornbuckle family’s combined medical rarity falls into the trillionth range — so rare that families like theirs may not exist anywhere else in the world.
Conditions at a Glance:
- Nicholas (17): Muckle-Wells, 1p36.31 deletion (~1 in 5,000–10,000 births), autism (~2%), congenital heart defect (rare PDA), bilateral hearing loss with implants. - Victoria (9): Muckle-Wells, congenital heart disease (~0.8%), recurrent lymph node infections, bilateral hearing loss with aids. - Jenna: Heart failure (intolerant to standard medications, pacemaker next step), kidney disease (rare in low-risk women), profound hearing loss (cochlear implant + aid).
“Sometimes the hardest part isn’t the health battles,” Jenna says, “it’s telling our story over and over, begging for help, and watching it go unseen. People have called me a liar, told me my story isn’t serious enough, and even said my benefits should go to someone else. But my children’s lives matter — and I refuse to give up.”
Beyond survival, Jenna’s story is one of faith and redemption. After losing her full-term daughter Jessie in 2008, she turned away from God for 15 years. In 2023, after another near-death collapse, she experienced what she describes as God’s undeniable pursuit. She was baptized in 2024, marking a new chapter of resilience and hope.
Jenna also advocates for prisoners, believing no one should be written off by society. She hopes her story will spark greater awareness, compassion, and action for families facing impossible odds.

Glen Rose Tigers Gear Up for District Play |
Glen Rose Tigers Gear Up for District Play The Glen Rose Tiger football team had a much-needed bye this past Friday night, giving the players time to regroup and recharge before diving into district competition. This week, the Tigers will face off against “the purple” — the Godley Wildcats — in what promises to be an exciting matchup under the Friday night lights.
The Tigers are hungry for their first win of the season, and they’ve been working hard day in and day out to make it happen. While a few close games have slipped away, the team continues to improve every week, showing grit, determination, and heart on the field.
Now, with district play beginning, the boys are ready to turn that hard work into results.
Friday night’s game will be held at Tiger Stadium, with kickoff set for 7:00 p.m. Fans are encouraged to come out, pack the stands, and show support for these young athletes as they fight for their first victory of the season.
Let’s fill the stadium and cheer on our Tigers! |

Ann Rhodes Poster Signing |
Ann Rhodes was in head-on collision on September 28 going home from church. Since that time, she's had many surgeries for her many serious injuries.
Her church family at Cornerstone Christian Fellowship Church will be on the Square (hopefully in the gazebo) with poster boards for the community that knows and loves "Miss Ann" to come write her notes that will be taken to her when she has a room to see the love that our community has for her. This will be on Friday from 5:30 to 7:30.
If you see this and wonder how you recognize Miss Ann, she was a waitress at Chachis for over a decade. |
