Thank You! |
Howdy, neighbor – and welcome to the very first issue of Somervell Times!
First off, thank you for hopping on board early. You’re part of the “Founding Subscribers Club”, which isn’t official yet, but if it was, we’d print you a badge and a free coffee down at the square. 😉
We started Somervell Times because this little corner of Texas is full of stories worth telling, from the latest happenings in Glen Rose to the quirks and charm of Somervell County life. Whether it’s local news, an event you don’t want to miss, or just a tale that’ll make you smile, you’ll find it right here in your inbox.
So sit back, kick off your boots (unless you’re reading this in town, in which case maybe keep ’em on), and enjoy being part of something new. We’re mighty glad you’re here. |

A Big Thanks to Chief Buck Martin – Our Traffic Wrangler Extraordinaire |
The first full week of school in Glen Rose always feels a little like a three-ring circus... buses, parents, teens with fresh licenses, and folks just trying to make it to work on time all meet at the square. It’s a recipe for bumper-to-bumper patience testing.
That’s why we want to tip our hats (and maybe even our steering wheels) to Police Chief Buck Martin, who’s been out on the square personally directing traffic. Watching him herd cars, trucks, and buses through downtown is like watching a seasoned ranch hand working a herd, only these cattle honk back.
Thanks to his steady presence, more of us made it to school and work a little less late, and a lot less frazzled. Chief, we see you, we appreciate you, and we’re grateful for the way you keep Glen Rose moving - literally.
So next time you spot Chief Martin out there waving folks through with a smile, give him a friendly nod (and maybe resist the urge to roll your window down and moo). From all of us in the community: thank you for keeping the square safe, steady, and just a little bit less stressful. |
